Oakland Raiders without Campbell

After losing the game with the San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders might possibly miss their quarterback Jason Campbell for the coming games, including their next preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on September 12, 2010, 1:00PM at the LP Field, Tennessee.

Campbell was taken off the football field in a cart after being injured on a sack by Niners’ line backer, Travis LaBoy during the second quarter. One that needs special attention by now is his ailing wrist. He underwent scan last Sunday and will be reevaluated later this week. Can this possibly refrain him from playing on their first regular season game? Meanwhile, Campbell is certain that he can recover pretty fast but he definitely doesn’t know the timeframe. In their recent preseason game, Campbell has led the Raiders to a TD during the opening drive for the 2nd week.

Another recently cited event concerning the team is Michael Bush’s undergoing surgery on his broken left thumb, by which he also had during their Saturday night’s game with the Niners, but is certain to come back for the season opener.

Meanwhile, after being struck into a sprained ankle, center Samson Satele will return to game. However, there are still some players like Desmond Bryant, Joey Thomas, Jason Richardson and Alex Daniels, who are not certain on playing the coming games due to their individual dealings with their injuries.

Due to issues of injuries, some sportsbook handicapped the Oakland Raiders as the underdog, making the Tennessee Titans the favorite. With the prevailing conditions of some players, will they be able to cover the totals and spread on them? Bettors, now’s the time to think.

NFL Preseason: Redskins @ Cardinals

Washington Redskins @ Arizona Cardinals Thurs. Sept. 2nd 10pm EST

Coming into their preseason finale on Thursday night, both the Washington Redskins and the Arizona Cardinals will have some serious questions surrounding the quarterbacks position as six-time Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb will be sitting out with a sprained ankle, which could keep him out in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, and Matt Leinart will still be trying to prove that he has some value and can be a starter in the NFL.

The most intriguing thing to watch for in this final preseason game for these two teams is how well Rex Grossman and Derek Anderson play under center. It is uncertain whether or not Anderson will play much more than the first couple of series or so as the Arizona Cardinals seem to be content with him as their number one guy under center, but if Anderson does end up watching most of the game from the sidelines it will give Matt Leinart at least one more shot to prove his worth.

Ultimately, this game is absolutely meaningless and will showcase both team’s starters for the least amount of time, but since the Cardinals and Redskins aren’t exactly among the elite teams in the league right now, they have plenty of position battles and this game could be make or break for many of their players.

In the end, I believe that the Washington Redskins will be the team to come out on top as two-time Super Bowl champion head coach Mike Shanahan seems to have his new team already heading in the right direction heading into the NFL regular season, but the Arizona Cardinals do have the potential to surprise and if Matt Leinart turns into the Heisman trophy winner of old, the Redskins secondary could be in for a long day.

Redemption is name of the game for Buccaneers in 2010 NFL season

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2010-2011 Season Preview

In the forthcoming 2010 National Football League season the battle cry for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is redemption and improvement.

Having a nightmare season last year, head coach Raheem Morris is optimistic their luck will change in the 20 10 NFL season.

Focusing more on rebuilding the team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not have much luck in the 2009 NFL season as they almost had a win-less year.

This year however, lady luck could come to the Buccaneers after they acquired DT Gerald McCoy during the NFL offseason.

A reliable defensive tackle in college, McCoy is expected to infuse young blood and defense to the franchise that struggled big-time in defense last year.

Having a league worst 158.2 YPG on the ground, the move to take McCoy in the NFL draft is a good decision on the part of the Buccaneers.

As the Buccaneers celebrate the acquisition of McCoy, the team took a step back after it decided to release dependable WR Antonio Bryant, who was the team’s leading receiver the past year.

With a modest average of 39 catches and 600 yards the presence and contribution of Bryant will be missed big-time by the Buccaneers.

Now that Bryant is g one quarterback Josh Freeman needs to play hard since he do not have enough offensive weapons to rely to this year.

Despite a weak roster, the Buccaneers can still salvage a great 2010 NFL season if the team can continue to improve this year.

The Buccaneers can win substantial games this year if they would play hard and give their 100 percent in the game.

With at least seven starters no older than 25 years old the expectations for success is not that high for this team whose defense is one of the weakest in the league.

Winning five or more wins in the 2010 NFL season is already good enough to the team whose chances to win the Super Bowl currently sit at +12,500.

Ending the Losing Streak: Broncos Host Steelers

The third preseason game of the Denver Broncos is set in their home field set against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos lost their first two preseason game with the Bengals and Lions respectively. On Sunday, can they put a break in their losing streak by sweeping victory over the Steelers? Odds were set to them; spreads and totals were made by a lot of bookies; bettors are now deciding whether to bet on them or not.

Broncos’ rookie quarterback Tim Tebow possibility of playing against the Steelers is still vague at the moment. Josh McDaniels’ comment last Thursday regarding Tebow’s condition appeared to have an unclear status. Tebow is still suffering from sore ribs after being struck on the side on their play with the Bengals. Despite the injury, Tebow still managed to be present in their team practice last Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, Broncos might possibly have Demaryius Thomas on Sunday but will not put too much pressure on him as he is still on the process of rehabilitating his bothersome foot.

As they set their foot on their home field to face the strong Pittsburgh Steelers, can their performance cover it up to making them victorious over the Steelers? Endless practice is over. The Broncos are still hoping that their players will all be well for them to cope up and break their losing streak.

Back-back Super Bowl crown is highly possible for Saints

New Orleans Saints 2010-2011 Season Preview

Taking the National Football League crown in two straight years is very possible for the New Orleans Saints in the forthcoming 2010 season of the top professional football league in the planet.

The year 2009 is a memorable year for the New Orleans Saints as they did not only win 13 games but also reached the NFL playoffs and take the NLF crown that same year.

The 2009 banner year of the Saints has better chance of being repeated this year after the team acquired DB Patrick Robinson during the offseason.

A great defender known for his speed, Robinson is expected to help in the defensive campaign of the Saints and improve their 25th ranking in defence in the NFL last year with a 357.8 yards per game allowed average.

Despite the acquisition of Robinson, the team still needs to play their cards well after the team lose one of its top personnel in their championship run during the 2009 NFL season.

NFL experts criticized the Saints when it decided to trade OT Jamaal Brown during the offseason, many are saying that removing someone who contributed a lot for the team the past year is just illogical.

Everything points towards success for the Saints in the 2010 NFL season all they have to do is to do is to keep their offence running smoothly this year.

If star quarterback Drew Brees can duplicate or even surpass his 4,500 yard mark last year, chances are the team will become a repeat champion this year year.

The way the management formed their roster their roster this year, getting 11 or more wins is very possible for the team.

Without much opposition from its divisional rivals taking the NFC South crown will be relatively easy for the Saints.

The odds might be on the favor of the Saints this year, the defending NFL champion still needs to prepare and play hard if it wants to keep the Super Bowl crown in New Orleans this year.

Change style to gain respect and success

Carolina Panthers 2010-2011 Season Preview

If the Carolina Panthers wants to gain respect and have a great 2010 National Football League season the team needs to do some drastic and immediate change in its style of play and roster.

The move to unload quarterback Jake Delhomme is a laudable action on the part of head coach John Fox and the rest of the management.

Sometimes to move forward is to do some subtraction on the pieces that do not anymore serve i ts purpose on the NFL franchise.

Completing just 50.0 percent or less of his passes in four starts last year is a strong indication that he is ready to go.

While, discharging Delhomme is a laudable move, the failure of the team to keep reliable defensive end Julius Peppers is not something to cheer about.

Considered as one of the top defensive linemen in the NFL, the decision of the management to let him go despite picking up  10.5 sacks last year is a bad move on the part of the Panthers.

Despite the huge loss of Peppers the Panthers can still salvage a great year if they can get superb performance from their quarterbacks Matt Moore or rookie QB Jimmy Clausen this year.

Panthers reliable RBs Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams need someone to pas them the ball and hopefully Moore or Clausen could do such chores for the Panthers this year.

If the Carolina Panthers quarterback could just complete 15-20 passes per game this year it would be a good performance since it could create fears to the other NFL teams.

To have a great 2010 NFL season, head coach John Fox should start implementing drastic chances to the team in the 2010 NFL season.

Although their chance to rule the NFC South and take the Super Bowl this year is remote, if the team can implement some changes it is already a great direction for the team.

Playoff hope on the go for Falcons

Atlanta Falcons 2010-2011 Season Preview

The 2009 National Football league season might not be a great season for the Atlanta Falcons compared to their campaign the previous year where they reached the playoffs, still there is room for the team to be optimistic in the 2010 NFL season.

Finishing 9-7 in the NFL season the past year is not bad at all since the team almost made it to the playoffs for the second straight year.

The acquisition of DB Dunta Robinson during the NFL offseason is a great move on the part of the Atlanta Falcons to boost its chances for success and another playoff stint in the 2010 NFL season.

Robinson is expected to provide tough defence for the Falcons whose 241.9 yards per game average in defense is one of the worst in the NFL the past year.

while most of the NFL teams lose some of its top players in the offseason the Atlanta Falcons evaded such grim scenario as the management decided to almost keep the 2009 NFL roster intact this year.

With the most of its players returning for the 2010 NFL season, head-coach Mike Smith had plenty of reasons to smile as the core of WR Roddy White, WR Michael Jenkins, TE Tony Gonzalez, QB Matt Ryan, and RB Michael Turner are expected to produce good result for the team this year.

If Turner could keep himself injury the rest of the next NFL season  and could run 1,700 yards of more this year, chances are the Falcons will be in for a great year for the franchise and its countless fans around the world.

The challenge for the Atlanta Falcons is to win at least two of its first three opening games against Pittsburgh, Arizona, and New Orleans to show to the NFL world that they are force to reckon this year.

With a solid line-up an the fact that their division is not that strong compared to others, winning 10 games this year is a realistic estimate for the Falcons.

Taking second place in the division is also very possible for the team if their players will play with effort and determination in the 2010 NFL season.

Is He Back for Good?

Finally, the long wait is over. Minnesota Vikings Quarterback will now be back in the field. Thanks to the unending perseverance of the whole Vikings in making Brett Favre decide to play again.

In an interview, the three Vikings were asked to visit Favre in Mississippi to find out once and for all the decision of Favre since the opening of the 2010 NFL season is fast approaching. The three Vikings were Jared Allen (defensive end), Steve Hutchinson (guard) and Ryan Longwell (kicker). Those three have come to Favre’s place with the aim of asking him on his decision whether to retire or still play. After touring his teammates, the topic about his indecision was tackled. The three expressed their eagerness to have him back and that they do all loved playing with Favre and that they would love to do it again. If he decides on retiring, then it is his right and he deserves it. He has made a lot for his career, but the whole NFL community and followers must know his decision one way or another.

By then, Favre said “OK, let’s do it.” It wasn’t that much of a fairy tale situation, but then having him back will make sure everything will be just fine. There’s nothing much more important for Favre than knowing that his teammates do love to have him back. The four of them flew together back to the Minnesota Vikings headquarters and announced Favre’s return to the team following the team’s 12:40PM practice.

Surely, his decision of playing again for the Vikings will definitely make every follower and bettors in favour of Vikings happy. It has a long while and a lot of speculations and rumours were already made. Having his final decision ended all this. Thanks to the guts shown by his teammates.

49ers Have Westbrook

September 9, 2010 marks the official start of the 2010 NFL Season. The teams are making every effort in preparing their team to make it to the finals and cover each and every spreads and totals set on them. The San Francisco 49ers, just like any other team, is doing their best effort to come up with a powerful list of players.

It was reported and confirmed that Brian Westbrook have signed a one-year contract with the Niners. The deal is worth $1.25 million guaranteed and can be at a maximum of $2.5 million including all the incentives.

Three other teams were considering the service of Westbrook, but the latter chose to be a part of a winning team. Furthermore, his decision wasn’t entirely based on money at this stage. Those three teams include St. Louis Rams, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys.

Westbrook have been a two-time Pro Bowler who has spent his first eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles with an undisputed record of 426 receptions, 3,790 yards of receiving and 29 receiving touchdowns all done by a running back.

When the running back was formally introduced as a new member of the Niners, he expressed his vision of the team winning the season. He was happy to be in a football team coached by a man he respects and a team with a winning spirit coupled with a winning performance. He has definitely found all those things in San Francisco. It was a long process though, but he thinks that it will all turn out well for him.

The San Francisco 49ers are set to play against the Seahawks on September 12. The Niners are all positive enough to think and give assurance to their followers that they can win and cover the spreads and totals set on them by the entire sportsbook.

Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels, To Replace Favre?

It is clearly business as usual for the Minnesota Vikings now that their famous quarterback, Brett Favre, is still undecided whether to return or not this season. There are many adjustments that the team has made just to cope up with Favre’s absence. Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels, veteran Vikings quarterbacks will temporarily replace Favre’s position.

In an interview with Jackson, he stated that he is now comfortable with the situation and that he respects Favre’s indecision. He respects that it is Favre’s right and deserves however long it may take him to decide. Jackson will be just there to do his duty as a substitute. Jackson already accepted that being Favre’s substitute is now a part of his life now and might actually miss it should Favre already return.

On the other hand, Sage Rosenfels, a 10-year NFL veteran, will be serving the Minnesota Vikings as the No. 2 quarterback. Rosenfels have experienced much back-and-forth dancing with Favre, and he thinks that it will definitely help him a lot in performing better now.

Both of the veteran quarterbacks are exerting their best effort into making their substitution of high value. Now that things are well arranged for the Vikings, they are now ready to take off and fight until the championship without Favre. This will definitely give assurance to a lot of sports bettor out there that the team will be covering the spreads and totals set for them. Odds will definitely be in their favour should the tactics work for them.
